Scabiosa ‘Magic’ is a

  • Clump forming perennial
  • Likes full sun
  • Grows in any well drained soils, neutral to slightly alkaline
  • Some protection required in frost pockets
  • Hardy to -5 °C take a cutting before winter just in case
  • Flowering period: July to late September
  • Regular deadheading will help extend the season even further
  • Flowers are light green, but as they mature turn a light pink
  • Invaluable for flower arranging


Two Moore Scabiosas


Scabiosa atropurpurea x caucasica Magic (‘Pmoore02) was selected  by Peter Moore, independent plant breeder in the UK and will be taken into production in several countries, Its sterile ‘magic’ flowers are in an early stage light green, later light pink. The flowering period is very long, from early summer till begin frost. Hardiness zone 5. The growing habit is spreading; height about 50 cm. This scabiosa can be used in garden, patios, and on terraces.
In 2009, Moore  selected the very winterhardy (Pmoore01) with crème flowers. Royalty management agency for Europe, Plantipp in IJsselstein, Netherlands was introduce at Plantarium 2012, the international trade fair for hardy nursery stock in The Netherlands (August 22-25).
